I just got a 1988 throttle body and I thought that 85-88 were all the same, but I have one extra large or 3 rather than 3 on my 86 which appears like 2 of them are large hose ports and the third is the water connection port. This is on the right side of the throttle body. Does anyone know what the difference is ???
Im not sure what youre asking, but trying to get an idea.On my 86 TB,the TPS side had only one open outlet and the bottom one was blocked off.
I noticed 87-88 cars had the lower port open. That was due to the pcv system being changed somewhat.
If using a later TB on an 86,You would have to put a rubber vacuum cap on that extra port hole. You cant plug anything into it.
IS this what youre asking? I wasnt sure so I explained the best I could.I swapped a later TB for my stock unit when it was old and the newer unit had an extra port open on the TPS side that I couldnt use so I capped it off.
Thanks guys I think you said what I was figuring, that I would just use one port in the same position as the 86 and block the other one, I was just having problems explaing it. I wish I could find some place I could buy a rebuilt factory one, but haven't found anyone who sells them. My 88 is in Wisconsin so I can't look at it and all the manuals are packed away.
