Default Heim joint rear suspension

Just wondering if anyone was using vet-brakes or a simial rear suspension, with hiem joint trailing arms, tie rods, and stuff.

Just wanted to know if they held up on the street and if they were noisy.

The quality of the rod ends will affect the durability as well as the noise. I don't know what rod ends VBP uses. I've used rodends in the suspension on a couple of street driven vettes, although not in a daily driver. In my experience, the rod ends on the trailing arms generate a lot of noise in comparison to those on the camber rods and toe rods. Rod ends will also generally increase vibrations and harshness over bumps.

I don't really know how long they will last on the street. The dirt they're exposed to can cause a lot of wear, but it depends on the rod end. QA1 rod ends are good for the money, and seem to go a lot of street miles in many applications before getting sloppy. Cheaper options will get sloppy after several hundred miles.

I have had VB&P Smart Struts on the rear and spreader bar in the engine compartment with Heim joints, on my '73 for more than 10 years and approximately 10k miles. No problems with noise or corrosion and no regrets.

I'm running heim joints on the camber rods and the toe rods. I made them myself so I bought good quality joints. I'm also using seals on the toe rod joints. Rod end quality makes a huge difference in life. Noise isn't bad - both are isolated from the frame. Trailing arms are not isolated from the frame so I expect they will make a lot more noise. I don't think they are as great an improvement as the camber rods.

The toe rods just give you the ability to adjust out the rear bump steer. If you don't race your car it probably isn't worth it.

Good luck

I bought a set from VB.
Not my daily driver.
I've found if the start to make noise spray some WD40 on them.
I oil them at least one every two weeks. Of course I some times for get and the noise comes back.
They been on the car for 3 years...
