Best Exhaust
Hey ya'll time for a new exhaust for my 93.. first and foremost I want the nicest sounding, loudest, out there.. and if I can get a few horse out of it that would be great too.. anyone have any ideas??? Thanks!
I'm looking too and thinking about constructing my own muffler eliminators with some nice tips. I'm all about DIY. A guy who has a '94 with a B&B came by my work the other day and says he'll bring the car by for me to listen to. If it sounds good enough I might spring for that. I just have to hear it in person to be convinced. :
No offense, but I think the Corsa's are the worst sounding exhaust of all of them. Yes, they may alleviate the resonation, and there are a number of people on this board that swear by them, but you won't be seeing them on my car anytime in the near future.
Put magnaflows on my 95 six speed LT1 and the ressonance was too much. Sounded great at WOT and looked super. Now have Corsa and am very pleased with the sound and looks.
I went from stock to Borla mufflers and "Y" pipe on my 84. At idle it has and nice deep throaty sound to it, and we you get on the gas she sounds real nice. Everyone says it sounds like "silent thunder". They are expensive though cost me at total of around $750, but worth it.
If you use "search" there are many many threads on this topic as it is one that is discussed endlessly.
First you indicated that you wanted the loudest & nicest sounding however then you made mention of having it tolarable while idling.
I think that all of the systems mentioned so far will do what you want. The sound issue or rather the resonance issue (sound in the cabin while you are driving) is the one that many people are concerned with so I guess that you need to tell us a little bit more about what you are going to use the car for.
When driving at "normal" crusing speeds many of these systems will give you a bit of a headache after 30 or 45 min of driving. The exception to this seems to be the Corsa system. The corsa however has a slightly different sound than flowmaster and magnaflow and thus it may also be a matter of personal taste.
Do you drive your vette every day? How often do you go on long drives? Or are ya just going to use the car for profiling ?
The resonance for systems other than Corsa are said to give people headaches. This is not acceptable in my car. Others may tell you it's not so bad. I love my Corsa system. It looks great and is loud only when I want loud - when I step down!

Ok, I want loud.. I want you to hear me coming. Some other factors
1. Its a convertible
2. It is not a Daily Driver
3. I basically run it at the track and take it on longer drives
Im not worried about resonence, if you want a quiet ride Ill ride in my Turbo saab.. I want it to sound slightly mean at idle and wicked WOT. And while corsa may have its followers.. Im not a fan of the different pitch that they omit.
Right now its between B&B, Flowmaster Force II full kit, Magnaflow mufflers only...
Have you considered the Delta Flo 50 muff's? www.performancepeddler.com They make some specifically for the vette with the proper mounting bracket, have a mellower tone than the Force II, but still wail when you hammer it. Have them on my 89 and love them. Look sweet, too. Nice exhaust note!
