I have done my research and search this forum; but when it comes down to the niddy griddy i want some more opnions....

My two choices:

Im going to run the ZZ9 cam with ported heads, headers, 58mm TB, & a few other mods, but i cant decide which intake...

Either the Superram with the 3.07 gears

or

LT1 intake with 3.73 gears

any opnions??? Thanks

LT1 is better suited to the cam, but either intake will work with it.

The 58 is the only thing there I would definitely veto.

"The 58 is the only thing there I would definitely veto."

I am not about in to buy into the 58mm or not arguement.
BUT
I bought one for my 383 race engine.
Just out of interest I ran it on my 95,000 L98 350 with zz4 cam ,siamized stock base,LTs , 2K converter.
None of the off idle flat spotting as predicted here , great response , Ran exact same ET , 60 ft and 2 mph increase at track compared to same setup with 48mm.
Same 60ft shows no loss of bottom end.

So youre out nearly 300 bucks to get the nearly the same performance as the stock piece? How do you know the TB gained 2 mph with your mods. Was there a before and after test with different runners, tps settings and etc?Im just curious?

You have a 383.

Think about what you read and write folks. This must be an off-day for the forum, people are nitpicking me.

"Think about what you read and write folks"

Read what I WROTE!
The comment was;
I bought a 58mm for the race 383 I am building.
I was having a intermittant idle problem on the above basically stock TPI 350 which I thought was due to the old TB.
I installed the 58mm , it's street manners were perfect and because it was a track weekend , ran it to see what difference it made.
Results as stated above.
Perfect drivibility and no loss of bottom end power.

"Was there a before and after test with different runners, tps settings and etc?Im just curious?"
I have over 50 passes on the stated combo.Run 13.1 - 13.4 depending on traction which shows up in the 60ft times.
Mph is always 100-101mph.
With the 58mm ,ETs varied as always due to traction but all runs 103-104mph.
This subject has been thrashed to death;all I am stating is that irrespective of the what the formulas say . the 58mm had no bad effects on my mildly modded engine .

"So youre out nearly 300 bucks"
No because this Forum is such a cool place I got a new 58 mmTB from Togo for $200 and it is going on my race engine

i am still in this debate with my mind. but my choice is either the SR or the MR with the 219. the only reason i would go SR is because this way my 3.07's are prefect suited for it.

it's all a money pit, just depends how deep u want to go.
