I got my 2 3/4" hood from Melrose, but don't let the ads fool you, they are the same hood made by the same people as the one Toledo sells. I compared my hood to a Toledo hood and as far as we could tell, they were exact.
I got the fiberglass model, it is a functional cowl and 25-30lbs lighter (not to mention $400 less expensive) than the stock hood. The carbon fibre model is even lighter but a little more than a stock replacment hood.
Which ever way you go, you will be shocked at the quality. these hoods are MUCH nicer than the GM stock hood. Better made, stronger and much cleaner inside.
Here is a side shot so you can see the rise and an inside shot.
Any chance someone makes decals for these that
are similar to the ones the C3 hoods had in the late
60's?
I think they were on the L88 hoods. They are black
and run along the sides of the rise. IIRC, there is a
solid inner wedge portion and an outer pin stripe.
Edit: After looking at some '69 L88s, I realize their
stripes are not what I am thinking of.
There was something with cowl induction that came
with stripes along the sides of the rise. I've looked
at some Chevelles and Camaros without luck.
If you contact Toledo (Linda) they are the only manufature of the corvette parts.
Anyone else is just a side line.
Toledo has the mold for the front rear and hood.
Everyone else just buy's from Toledo.
I have the 4 inch hood.
If anyone had described your paint scheme to me, I would have thought But that is absolutely gorgeous! You painted the underside of the hood? That must add another hour to your waxing. Is the hi-rise hood for looks only, or there a purpose? Anyway, I love it.
