Hello all,
A/C quit today, when I stopped to have lunch it was working fine, get back in the car to leave and no A/C.
I didn't have low refrigerant, and I neither see nor smell a leak. When I got home and popped the hood and started checking around I found the following:
Both hoses are hot.
Pressure on the low side is about 90 PSI. so obviously the system hasn't leaked down.
Compressor isn't cycling.
As I said A/C was working great until I stopped, maybe that was just a coincidence.
Any ideas as to what steps I should do next? I know I'll end up taking it in to the dealer but if anyone has any suggestions as to what to do next I'm ready to try.
Is it dangerous to drive like this, i.e. is there any chance this much pressure on the low side will pop a hose?
My AC quite working one day but you could see that the AC clutch had fired itself--got new part at the dealer $350 and replaced it--OK then. It was easy to replace. If clutch isn't coming on first check your fuses for the clutch then make sure you have voltage at the clutch.

Reason: ADD thought
If it happens again - even with a new clutch assembly - check the low pressure switch connection. There's been at least 1 other member with that problem and I had it happen on my S10. Disconnecting and reconnecting gets it working again - maybe for a couple of months. Solution is a new switch or connector.
