Default drilled rotors

I have a chance to buy some Roto-Tech drilled rotors for my '87. I was wondering if anyone had heard of them before and had any feedback if you had used them.

Also, these will be just for street use. Has anyone had problems with the drilled rotors? I think I remember someone talking of cracks forming around the drilled holes. Has this been a problem with drilled rotors and if so, is it a cause for concern and staying with non-drilled.

I am also looking at a set of front and rear Hawk ferro-carbon brake pads. Anyone have any experience with them?

Thanks in advance.
Brad

I would not bother.

Cheap "drilled" rotors do nothing but crack...

I've had drilled and slotted rotors from irotors.com and now have GM Duralasts on the front that I installed during the C5 brake conversion. I've had no problems with either through plenty of hard driving and some autocrossing. I've not heard of the brand you mentioned and so can't advise you there. You might want to check out the Duralasts from Superior Chevrolet. They are very reasonably priced. For anything less than road racing, any quality brand will be fine.

For racing, you would need racing rotors, before another rotor argument ensues!

drilled rotors are the biggest hoax in motor sports the holes are not for cooling.... they are to let the super thin layer of gas that forms between the pad and rotor escape... i have never seen a piar not crack under extreme use.. if it is a road car and you are not always on the brakes hard.. you shouldn't have a problem.. buy them only for looks if you want... i have had more luck with sloted rotors. as for pads i always use hawk hp plus they do work some on the street and will bite hard on the track.... dont get high temp brakes if you dont get brakes hot, hot brakes only work at high temps.. **** stock type brakes work better than race brakes on the street**** ..... good luck... .

Purchased a set of four for my 1996 near two years ago. Purchased from Irotors and are drilled and slotted, 35000 miles with good results.
No cracks etc.
