I am doing a head and cam swap. I will need a reflash and have got a PCM price of $175. I purchased my parts from TPIS and they want $575. Other than the price what is the difference ???

Thanks

Fred

I know nothing about TPIS.

But, I just installed a PCMforless chip in my stock '93 and I was very impressed. There is definitely more "punch" at WOT mid-range through redline. In addition the car feels more responsive and is noticeably smoother. I easily got my money's worth.

Do a search and you'll see many favorable comments about PCMforless from stock to highly modded setups. They will work with you to get it right.

i know nothing about TPIS in terms of custom chip tuning either, but i seem to remember an old thread where someone was complaining of their lack of customer service when it came to retuning the chip once or twice afterwards. for $575, that spells rip-off.

however i do know about pcmforless, because thats who did my chip as well. since you have MAP you'll require more work to the chip, particularly fueling adjustments. pcmforless is highly professional and will do you right. you won't get a better value for great work anywhere else.

I use Fastchip.com. Cheaper, quick turnaround, and lots of bang for the buck.

Look at www.pcmforless.com Besides having many satisified customers here, alot of the magizine featured cars use them with great success. I know I have had great luck with them. Got my 350 running a best of 11.71 at 117.31mph and best of all, I throw my cats back on and pass emissions inspection!! IMHO $575.00 is for a mail order tune.

Yeah, $575 is a rip! I only paid $350 for a great dyno tune. And many on here have been quite pleased with PCMforless from what I've seen. Regardless of price, a tune is either right or it's not.

Yeah $575 is a joke. You can buy the stuff you need and start learning yourself for that much.

$575 ?!? That's insane!! Definately go with either PCMforLess.com or FastChip.com. I've talked with both of them a few times and they are both very knowledgeable and have great service.
