Simple Fix for Wiper Problem
My '86 wiper motor would only function in high speed mode. After running voltage check on switch assembly (as outlined in GM shop manual) and eliminating it as problem, I checked the park switch assembly. All current to operate the motor in any mode but high speed runs through a set of points in this switch. My points were misaligned and dirty. I carefully bent the arm to align the contacts and cleaned them with contact cleaner and all works perfectly now.
Don't immediately think that the control board is shot if your wipers don't work.
