90 L98 While I was chasing the threads with tap 16 x 3/8 I accidentally went to deep and nicked a push rod about 2" below where it tenters the head. It just barely shows the threads on the side. I plan on putting everything back togeather without replacing it. am I wrong?

Maybe some one has an old set lying around.
I would at least polish out the area effected. Use a piece of wetdry sand paper 320-600 and remove only the scratch. Blend the area out to avoid creating a rut.
If you leave the "nick" this will allow a stress (riser) area to start cracking and ultimately cause the pushrod to break.
An example of not removing a stress riser is my experience with an aluminum wheel on my daily driver. Years ago the tire changer wacked the wheel against his equipment. The nick was about 1/16" deep on the edge of the inside bead . Right where you hammer on wheel weights. Years and about 60K miles later the tire started slow leaking. Turned out the stress riser grew to a crack that propagated completely through to the bead area and was now following the bead. Major disaster waiting to happen!
OK I am going to replace the Push Rod. Will I need to replace all or can I replace just one. From memory I will need to remove Valve cover Loosen Rocker arm on the effected rod and just pull it out then replace rod and rocker and tighten down is this correct?

Replacing just the one damaged push rod will be fine.
This thread should help when it comes time to adjust:
I've got a full set of hardenned pushrods I was about to list in the parts for sale section. They are made by Lingenfelter and are stock length. They are brand new with no time one them. I had to get my cam reground to a smaller base circle for clearance reasons so I now need a longer set. I was going to ask $30 shipped, which will save you roughly $20 after shipping if you were to buy from them, you can go to their website and check them out, they are listed. Let me know if you are interested. hz900@yahoo.com
BTW it is my understanding(read novice) that if you ever go to roller rockers you'll need hardenned pushrods anyway.
Thanks for all your help went to the place that is cleaning my intake and they gave me the pushrod to replace the one that I destroyed. In looking closer at it I also bent it.
