Ok guys, I have a simple question. I have a 92 Corvette. I want to buy a hand scanner that will read the cpu codes. What's a good one to buy. I would like to compair prices of a good basic reader to one thats "fully loaded". Also, what is a good programing tool for the cpu?
Thats not really a simple question. Lots of options out there. I have to recomend you click on C4 scan and tune and read the FAQ sticky at the top. Great info there.
There are a lot of questions you need to ask yourself.
1) Do you want one that is for the ECM only or for the other computers in the car? You have the ECM, the CCM, the ABS/ASR (I think it is called the EBCM), the C68 climate control, the Air bag computer, the radio system, and the low tire pressure computer.
2) Do you want one that only reads the data or one that is bi-directional and can command some systems to function to see how they react?
3) On a '92, you can read most trouble-codes without a scanner just by reading them on the digital dash display.
Try Tunerpro RT for a scanner. Has a nice big dashboard you can see when driving. For programming, CATS from turner cat.
I have a 165 ECM , so your car is different
