blackrose, thats great news and i'm glad to hear it
alvin has been the best thing since sliced bread for many of us. i know i will never even consider another tuner again, he did such a great job on my mailorder chip. he's tops i've never met alvin in person, but i sure hope to someday
i'm with you on that...i have a trans am i'm eventually going to play with and you can bet your money it'll be running a pcmforless tune
Well guys and gals i got to try out my new tune at the track today. I have a 93 LT1 with heads and cam and with a guesstimate tune i ran a best of 13.4 @102 and an average of 13.8-9. After the PCM FOR LESS treatment i ran 12.795@109.09 with a 2.026 60ft with the stock converter and 2.59's on street tires. I trapped a best of 111.94 with a 2.115 60ft and a 12.895et.
I highly recommend Alvin for your tuning needs. The guy definatley knows what he's doing.
If you want to keep the car streetable don't put the 4.10s in. A4 guys usually will stick to 3.73s. Heck even the stock D44 ratio of 3.45 will be a huge improvememnt over your 2.59s.
I guess a lot depends on how much highway driving you do etc. I have 4.09 gears and im very happy with them.
You still have alot more left in the car. With gears, LT headers, 3000 stall converter, and draglite wheels, skinnies on front, and et streets on back, I have run a best of 11.71 at 117.3 mph. Now this was an ideal day, but are cars are almost identical except for the above mentioned differences. Oh, and mine is a vert.
Robert, Im 99% sure his is a mail order tune. I have personally used Alvin for both mail order and dyno tune. His mail order tune was extremely close. I only gained 5-10 hp with the dyno tune. The BIG difference in his tune was the reworking of the idle and mid range area based on data logs. He has mine so well that it passes Nor VA emissions inspections with no problem. Gas milage is in the low 20's but that is with a Automatic and a 4.09 gear. Now keep in mind that both of these tunes are done on hotcam cars which is probably the most common LT1 upgrade tune.
