Default Recommendation for an OBD meter?

I figure it's about time to get the helms manuals, and an OBD readout. Can anyone talk about the best buys out there on the OBD units? Are some brands easier to use than other? Is there a bad deal I should avoid, and a good deal I should look for? My car is a '95 LT-1 which should be the OBD-I still. Is that correct? Thanks.

I like Datamaster. But, you'll need a laptop and ALDL interface cable to run this program.

Can you talk a little bit about the advantages of both types? I have a lap top that I use to tune the aftermarket EFI on one of my older Mopars, so that is available. It uses, I think, a nine pin cable to interface with the ECU. It seems like all I really need at the moment is something that will read the codes. I am not trying to make the Vette go faster, just diagnose engine troubles through the computer codes. I looked at the cable web page listed above, and could not tell what I would need for my car. It looks as if the Data Master soft ware is $95, and the cable is $90, but I could not tell if if my car was OBDI-or OBDII, as the '95 Corvette did not seem to be listed specifically. Is there a Forum sponsor who has a listing for these products? Thanks.
