Default Troublecode Help

I have a 1996 LT4....My Service soon light has been on for awhile now....I knew it wasnt anything major since I did a full tune myself....so I finally went to Autozone and had it checked today. The troublecode is P0420 and P0430 which reads:

P0420-
The PCM has determined that the catalyst system efficiency for Bank 1 is below threshold for the current engine operation conditions. (Bank 1 identifies the location of cylinder #1, while bank 2 identifies the cylinders on the opposite bank.)

Now P0430 is the same as above just for Bank 2. I figure its the O2 sensors. I installed corsa exhaust on my LT4 about 2 months ago. Could this be the problem? How do I solve this?

I have a 1996 also. Would try first to disconnect the neg. battery terminal, wait for five minutes then reconnect. See if the code comes back. I am at work and don't have my Helms manual but I would get a manual and follow step by step the procedure to check the o2 sensors.

At Harbor Freight, they sell a universal code reader for $39.95 part no. 46030-0BWA. This is a OBD11 code reader which reads, eliminates and describes codes and problems.

I have had a few wrenches tell me this, if you don't want to wait the 5 or 10 minutes to clear the codes, disconnect one of the battery terminals and then use a jumper cable to connect the cars positive cable to the ground of the car. This clears all codes memories etc. quickly and without harm. If I ahve not been not clear, one terminal off the battery, in a C4 Vette, the negative is the easiest to remove. Then I put a standard jumper cable on the positive lead, which is still connected to the battery, I take the other end and connect it to the AC line, which has a good ground. Clears real fast!

Don't mess around with cables to clear the codes. Simply disconnect the negative cable for fifteen seconds and then hook it back up.

Most likely this code will again reset. Replacing the O2 sensors is sort of like shooting the messenger. What is happening is that the computer is not seeing the difference in temperature in the cat inlet as compared to the outlet temperature and sets this code. It indicates that the cat is ineffective. If the cat is plugged, you may be running too rich or it is burning oil. A bad cat indicates one or the other of these two conditions.

Good luck,
