Hi,
The auto shifter button on my 95 sticks when its cold. It's VERY hard to depress to shift the transmission from "Park". Once it's warmed up though the shift button is easily pressed and I can shift without any problems. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks for the fast reply! I'm mechanically savy but haven't had to turn the wrenches much on this. Can you give me brief instructions on popping off the button and removing the console cover?
I use a small flat blade along side the button to gently pry it up.
If you neec to remove the shifter **** you first need to remove the small C-clip at the bottom inside of the ****. Small long-nose C-clip plyers make this job a snap.
On my '88 I need to move the dash panel slightly to the left, lift up the center dash bezel section and then lift the shifter console up over the shifter shaft.
For your '95 you will need to inspect the setup to see what is needed to access all the screws holding the shifter console cover in place.
Thanks again! I just went out and popped the button out using the method you described. Instead of WD-40 I used a silicone lubricant sprayed down the shifter. I replaced the button and it seems to be much better! Thanks for the easy fix for a problem that has been bothering me for a bit now.
