Default 1995 C4 Stock Shocks Bilstein???

I recently acquired (5 Months) a 1995 coupe. LT-1/automatic. I am in the process of 'refining/baselining' the car as I have no idea what its service history is. I am trying to get a idea of which components may be getting 'tired'.

I noticed that it appears to have Bilsteins and since it has 60K miles shocks are one of the things in my 'possible replace' list.

I have the factory build sheet which says that it came with the standard FE7 suspension which I didn't think had Bilsteins. So the bottom line question is would it have come with Bilsteins or are these replacement shocks?

Also anyone with experience with real world mileage limits for Bilsteins? I know they are supposed to last 'forever', but nothing lasts forever except alimony.

Thanks

18:52EST -- Thanks to everyone who has repled so far. OOOps-- I lied, not on purpose, of course. I have the FE1 suspension, just didn't have the build sheet with me at work and I have been doing a lot of reading and my poor mature little brain got confused with the 1 and 7. These senior moments hurt!

So I guess the real question is should they come off at 60K and I've got 1 yes. Anybody got experience in the difference between KYB's and Bilsteins --- big price difference---all marketing??

I have a champagne appetite and a budget and want wheels, brake lines, yada yada yada so each dollar has to work hard!

Thanks again!

If your `95 coupe is equipped with the FE7 (heavy duty) suspension, then it will have the FX-3 adjustible shocks from Bilstein.

You could either buy new ones, or get your current ones rebuilt from Bilsteins location in northern San Diego.

My '95 came with the FE1 "Soft Ride" option and still has Bilsteins. If I'm not mistaken, Bilstein shocks are stardard on all Vettes - just different part numbers for different options.

Yep they're stock, and they're probably shot.
