Ok, a few weeks ago i lost my targa top while driving. Its in tons of peices and cannot be repaired. I need a replacement. I can't seem to find any one that sells them. Any suggestions?
Don't see your year listed. There are differences in the
brackets used on the early cars and the later ones.
A search will tell you where the change-over occurs
but I'd guess it is '87? The tops interchange if you
update/backdate to the correct brackets.
There is a Tech Tip about how to adjust the brackets.
It got me most of the way to where I need to be to
be a happy camper when I picked up a clear top.

Man I'm sorry to hear that. I had the same thing happen to me on my former '85 a few years ago. I had the top on all winter while I was working on the car. I went out for the first cruise of spring and didn't realise that all the time the top was just resting on the top of the car, not screwed down. Got up to about 30mph and it flew off. Sounded like a shotgun went off when it hit the ground. Thank god there was no car behind me. Sounds like your top looks like mine after it hit the ground.
It can happen to anyone. Now I have a habit of pushing up on the top every time I get in a Corvette. You never know...
BTW Rich (Sleazy Rider) is great to deal with. I just bought a bunch of parts from him to finish my current '85.

Brian
VTvette
did the same thing when we were moving back to texas. loaded the 86 on the trailer, had to push it on, and headed down the road when my wife pulled along side and said something flew off the trailer and went straight up. later we found out it was the top, a nice glass one. i was really bummed out.
84 to 86e, 86l to 88, 89 on up. All you need are these parts for the year of your top.
If your wife won't give you enough money for everything, you can punch a hole on both sides of the trim to get to the hold down bolts. My 85 was like that when I bought it, but that only lasted till the first trip to the vette wrecking yard.
