I know this has been covered before from some angle, but I have had this issue for a very long time, but now it's worse.
The fuse blows all the time now, once the car warms up, over 160 degrees. I was once told it had something to do with a connector to the transmission. That part was changed, but it still caused a problem and I found out later that the dealership just left the connector off to keep from blowing the fuse. Does anyone know what the name of this is or where it is located?
I have read other suggestions about putting in line fuse at all the locations the pink/black wire runs too, yet I think it could be narrowed down if it has something to do with the engine warming up.
Any ideas?
The alternator will not charge the battery when this occurs, the door chime comes on when the headlights are on. This is how I know the fuse blows while driving. But not I can hear it blow as soon as I turn the key if the car is still warm.
Since it's seemingly at cruise right after closed loop and the Dealer has allready disconnected the TCC switch, I'd suspect one of the ECM driven solenoids. I wouldn't suspect the wiring as the fuse side is hot anytime it's running. I'd start with the Air Pump - Cat side solenoid - and disconnect it. Move on to the Evaporator Purge Canister and finally the EGR solenoid. Hopefully, disconnecting any one of these will find it. If so, replace the solenoid.
Air Pump Solenoids are between the a/c compressor and waterpump. Plastic cover fits over a couple of clips which you should be able to see. When disconnecting, make sure you note what harness goes to what solenoid as they will fit on either and if you hook it up backwards, you'll have air to the headers after closed loop setting up a lean condition.
Evap Canister is in the left fender well below the headlight. Solenoid just to the right of it. On mine, there is a sharp, pointed bolt on the canister retaining clamp - I've cut my hand on it a couple of times - I'd take a cursory look at the wiring if yours is the same.
EGR solenoid is usually mounted on the Thermostat Housing.
