If you have an idle problem, dont go suspecting one component over another. If you have no codes, the first thing I'd check is whether the the WP is going bad and leaking.
Just dont go spending money until you figure out what the problem is.
Thanks
been a vetter for about 24 years now...when I say that I suspect a problem, I have a bit of back-up to support the statement, not just a random guess....I was just asking if anyone has had any luck cleaning a O2 sensor...Thanks
A dirty oxygen sensor isnt going to cause the idle problem.
Check for engine codes.
And if you are going to go through the time to pull it out, just replace it. But I don't think that's your problem. Bad plug, bad wire, bad opti will also do that.
I wouldn't expect a bad "anything" until you dump your error codes. But yes, a faulty O2 sensor can cause the problems you mention by sending bogus voltage to your ECM, which on turn may richen or lean your AFR depending on the voltage sent....
There is an even greater chance your O2 is bad if your engine idles fine for the first few minutes after cold start of engine, while the computer is "open Loop". This is when the O2 sensor output voltages iare ignored. O2 sensors only work properly when they are very hot.
