Default Throttle cable has too much slack! Adjustment possible??

So maybe my WOT SOTP isn't as good on the track and the street because there is about half an inch of slack before the TB arm touches the stop. This possibly explains my recent 9.4s @ 77 mph in the 1/8th, 2.1 60'. If my average a few months back was about 8.60-8.90 @ 80-84 mph, something definately was wrong with the cable the entire time!! Its now all low 9s now in the 1/8 for the last couple of test and tune sessions. Embarrassing!

Pure conjecture.....

I don't think they are adjustable, at least not on any vehicle I have had the displeasure of working on. I am assuming you had some kind of helper either in the car and putting the pedal to the boards, or looking at the TB.

Being off 3 to 7 MPH is quite a bit. Did you do any kind of trouble shooting to verify that something really isn't wrong? Obviously your 60' times are killing your ET so you must still be making some power to to have that high of a 60'.

With that being said, I too noticed my throttle wouldn't fully open with the pedal. I however have a converted single plane, but am still using the stock throttle/cruise cable bracket. I found that by removing the cruise cable and putting the throttle cable through the cruise mount allowed for full opening of the blades at full pedal application. I still placed the eyelet over the proper boss on the TB though, and left the cruise unhooked.

After clearing the carpet under the pedal and still having slack cable , I packed out the crimp on the wire at the pedal end using an electrical connector (screw in type ) to take the slack out.
Full pedal = full throttle now.

LT1 cars have adjustable cables. There is a button similar to the TV cable button on your car that when pressed releases the cable. Then you floor the pedal to adjust. Not sure if this helps but I wanted to mention it.

Yes, back when I was running those mid to high 8s @ 80-84 mph, my 60' was also down to a best of 1.8 and averaged about 1.9 /w the 315/35/17 BFG D/Rs. I'll try tightening the cable under the pedal. Hopefully that will take care of some slack.

As a note , what I have done in other cases is to shim the whole pedal mount to reduce the slack by using washers with a slot cut in them so they can be slid into place without removing the mount.

I had a similar problem last year. Turned out, the pressure cable for thr tranny was not correctly adjusted and that was keeping the throttle cable from pulling back all the way. Unhook the tranny cable from the TB and see if it works.

Got some spare nuts and cut a washer to fit in the cable in as a lock and used them to shim the 11/16" slack of the cable at the end of the gas pedal. Finally SOTP is back and yes it opens all the way like it is supposed to!! Now, I can barely tap the gas and she'll "accidentally" spin tires off idle, WOW! The gas pedal is much more sensitive than it was earlier, but I'll eventually get used to it. Thank you everyone who helped me save $97,845.43 worth of Corvette tax!
