Dexcool in LT1?
I don't mix it with anything 100%.
You might consider running it 50/50 instead.

Pure distilled water will conduct heat better than any mix of antifreeze. That's why race cars use only water under high pressure (sometimes with an additive like water-wetter). 50/50 antifreeze is better in street cars because it's a good comprimise between boil over/freeze protection and provides adequate heat transfer. 100% antifreeze does not transfer heat very well at all, your car will run hotter if you run 100%.
If you are going to change it, be sure to do a good flush including removing the knock sensors to drain the block. Fill with clean water, run the engine to warm it up, drain and repeat a few times.
[Edit]
Just checked my Service Manual. Page 6B-6...."Use a 50/50 mixture of high-quality ethylene glycol antifreeze, GM specification 1825-M..."
That's the green stuff. So it looks to me like '96 is the first year for Dexcool in Vettes.

Biggest thing is to flush you system out, replace your radiator cap, and keep the mixture at a 50-50. If you use a less the 50-50, add some additional inhibitors like WaterWetter(r) from RedLine.
If you are converting from te green stuff for the first time, don't wait 5 years to change it. Change the initial changeout fluid after 2 years, then you can do it in 5 years intervals afterward. I don't care how well you flush the system out during the initial changeover, you'll never get all the green stuff out. There will always be some residuals.
Dexcool is getting a bad rep because people continue to pour the green stuff into a radiator system filled with Dexcool.
Or you can just forget it all and just stay with the green stuff. At least it's not being phased out like the Ozone-Depleting based Freon.
