Default MO Power LT4 396 Forged Stroker

A few of you may know my old engine "stock block LT1 350 " had 135,000 miles on it. I knew it was going to say good night sometime.

After my last upgrade to an 8 rib and upping the boost hitting about 12 pounds, I think the rings said OK we've had enough... I was getting some oil fouling and a miss on the Number 2 cylinder...

So I decided well it is time to take the plunge...

I had a LT4 396 forged stroker built for me....

The heads came finally on MOnday

I got an email and some pictures from the builder today, I thought I'd share...

http://www.ndneyes.com/mo/projects.html

They are near the bottom, I need to consolidate this page

Enjoy... I'm looking to enjoy

Mo

Mo,

Very nice looking setup. So how come you went with a 214/224 cam? I thought on a setup like that you would have gone bigger, especially with those AFR heads.

Let me guess.....you want good street manners?
I think with a 396 you can get away with a lot cam and have it streetable.

Very nice indeed. I agree with Paul. The 214 cam is quiet small for the 396 stroker. But there is a guy who lives about 1 hrs away from me. He has a 383LT1 with 214/224 LSA 114+4 with 17psi of boost his car punching out 700rwhp.

I got 222/230 LSA 114+4 it idle about the same same the HOT CAM on a 350ci.

Looks great but what C/R are you runing. I used -16cc dished pistons with my AFR 195's and it put me right at 10.7:1 and it looks like you are running flat tops with boost? I know nothing about boost other then big CI and boost = one nasty motor

You can see the SRP's here and the rather large dish

Mo,

That sounds awesome, when you get it up and running, give me a calll, I would love to check it out. I am not too far from you.

Let me know, maybe qwiketz can join as well.

I just took my car in to have it checked out, I have been having some issues with my fuel trims and knock retard under light acceleration.

I just got word that the fuel trims aren't as bad as I thought and that it had way too much timing.

It should be getting baselined tomorrow. I should have it by tomorrow night.

BTW, my engine was built by Tom.

Hi Guys,

Thankl you for you kind words...

I had it bult by DES / Stroker moters in Dallas.

I agree about the cam, I did go conservative as I wasn't sure how ba I was going to get "dinged" trying to pass emissions. I can always go larger later LOL

The builder called Lunati and told them what I was wanting to do Lunati suggested this cam with 1.6 roller rockers.

The AFR heads are 76 cc versions thus the reason the pistons are not cut as deep. The CR actually ended up being 9.6:1

I ran the numbers from the heads and cam through my Pro Sim Dyno ( not that I agree 100% with the numbers) with the setting at 9.0 CR ( which I though the CR was going to be at the time) and the Boost around 8 pounds( I was getting 13 pounds with my 350 and Greg's 8 rib) the program was giving me around 620 - 640 HP at the crank and 722 lbs of torque... With the CR now higher The numbers I guess could be higher. So Bruce I guess that seems to fall in line with what you were mentioning...

It is shipping MOnday I should see it Wednesday...

Yeah, ICvette and Z... I'm like a giddy kid HEH...

Regards,

MO
