I think I'd start by resolving this and move on from there.

BTW - I used your Tech Tip on Lowering last spring...saved me a bunch of time. Just wanted to say "Thanks!"
I have not got around to checking the compression yet but I'm thinking it's down.
I know a guy that I raced motocross with that has a 9 sec S10 pick-up. I seen him about 2 months ago and told him what I ran the last time at the track both NA and on the N2O. He asked what my compression was. I told him that "stock" was 10.5 / 1 but I don't know what she's really at. He said that going by how I was only set to spray 100hp that day and I picked up 1.3 sec on it, he thinks my compression is low. And that it why she like the spray so much. That's one of the things that makes me want to pull it and rebuild it.

You're welcome for the lowering tip. I glad it helped.

I notice you are in Grand Rapids. I am down in Kalamazoo. We should hook up sometime when the snow clears
Yes we can do this. There are a few of us here near GR that get together from time to time. Would love to add you to this.

I'm getting an idea now of what I need to do...

1. work more hours to pay for this stuff
2. beg the wife...
3. D44 rear with new 3.73's ( have 3.73's now and love them)
4. ported LT1 or LT4 heads
5. Intake if I go with the LT4 heads
6. cam
7. get it tuned
8. work more hours to pay for it.

If you're looking for a great package give Lloyd Elloit (www.eportworks.com) a call/email. His combos are second to none.
I couldn't agree more, not only is his port work unbelieveable , but the time he'll spend with you to get just the perfect combo picked out for what your trying to achieve, is VERY hard to comebuy ESPECIALLY when you consider his prices and the power people get from his head cam combos....his turnaround is also VERY good........I also have nothing against an off the shelf cam like a hot cam but, having a custom cam ground for your specific situation and application usually yields "MUCH" more power..........good luck

Lloyd has some nice prices... Especially considering a matched cam is included! After the 1st when I start looking seriously for vendors to have my heads worked on, he'll be the first one I call for sure.

Sounds great. I am still working more hours to pay for it all. The motor is hanging in the air from a hoist. Hopefully I can get it back together by april.

I have 400 at the crank without N2O, The intake and exhaust were ported. This combo rocks with gears, torque converter and shift kit.

I agree with the 260 cfm head flow is a good #. You don't need a 235 duration cam, a 220 will suffice and it will be very streetable. Headers, heads or head work, 10.5-1, 220/550 cam and with your intake will have you around 420-430chp.

Not sure of hp #s but I have a customer with a 92 LT1 and 6 speed that run's 12.31@115.45mph. 1.80 60'

mod's are very mild by my standerds
lt4 hot cam installed -4deg
1.6 rr
1"3/4 longtube headers
custom 3" exshaust with X pipe and dynomax race magnums (very loud)
stock gearset 3.45:1
unported intake and head's
pcm for less chip
hurst shifter
electric water pump
msd 6AL
k&n filter
26x11.5 MT et street's on weld prostar's

Has gone 12.62@113.00mph on firestone firehawk's

Think that with 4.11:1 gear's and QA1 adjustabul shock's it will go hi 11.00 sec the mph is there to go 11.50 or better but need to work on thw HOOK

oh ya no nitrous and the car weigh's 3265lbs

I would call Lloyd and tell him what your goals are. He will be able to recommend the right package for you. The Camaro guys over at www.camaroz28.com swear by him.

I'm going to be doing heads/cam package on my car soon and will probably go with his LE2 package. You don't really need the LT4 heads unless you're going to build a stroker.

Lots of opinions here…some I agree with, others I don’t. Anyway, I’d base goals on power (hp/tq) when talking about motor mods. Consider your budget, driveability requirements, and go from there. If your goal is really ET, I’d start w/ the driveline, suspension, etc. Looks like you’ve got a lot of time to research. Remember to also look outside the corvette world if you’re researching motor mods……there’s lots of LT/4 info out there. Good Luck

Personally I am in the camp of getting more of it from the heads and intake as oppossed to throwing the max. duration cam that the flow no.s will support.
For an LT-1 I think Nathan's is an excellent example of this, he used a hot cam but spent quite a bit of effort (and I'm sure bucks) in the heads /intake and valve train components (1.7 ratio jessels, good roller lifters etc.) I would bet that car /set-up also has great street manners. JMO
