Default Another 4+3 to ZF6 conversion question

Last night I finally got around to pulling the 4+3 bellhousing off...

I noticed that the clutch fork inside pushes on the throw-out bearing (which fell out when I yanked the 4+3 trans). The slave MC is mounted facing backwards, the piston comes out, pushes the fork toward the back of the car, it pivots, and pushes the other end of the fork into the TO bearing.

While comparing it to the ZF bellhousing I have... it seems that it is opposite. The slave MC is mounted on the back side, and appears to push toward the front of the car, but it still has a pivot point, which seems to indicate that it will PULL at the TO bearing...

Am I confused or does the ZF have a pull type clutch, and the 4+3 have a push type? If its a pull type, do I still use the same pressure plate?

Thanks for the help guys!!!

the zf has a pull type bearing which pulls the clutch fingers away from the flywheel, the clutch for your 4+3 will not work on the zf. the collar of the zf is also larger in diameter than the 4+3

Thrak,

Having done a ZF-6 TRANSplant on my Xfire, I can tell you that you use all the ZF parts. I used a Fidanza Aluminum FW with an SLP LT-1 Camaro sprung hub clutch disc. My PP came from a 1990 Vette. I also used both the master and slave cylinders from a ZF along with the SS braided line. Used the BMW/Castrol stuff for the trans fluid and GM Hydraulic Clutch fluid. Go to www.zfdoc.com for other answers. And before you put trans in is the time to think about upgrading shifter. I'm using the Hurst.

Thx for the info!

I've got just about everything ZF already, clutch, PP, hydralics, etc... I was told that I should/could use the 4+3 singlemass flywheel. Is that correct?
