Default Cloyes Timing Chain sets

Now i´m using the timing chain set Cloyes 9-9100 for my supercharched 1992 LT1.
I want to upgrade my car to a Generation II Lt1, so i can use the double roller set 9-3151 . Therefore i have to change the cam, distributer, timing cover and i also need a vacuum line to the distributer and another harness connecter to the ECM.

But what´s about the programm in the ECM for the timing? Do i need another programm? Is this easy to change for a programmer?

For which horspower and Nm i can use the 9-9100 set?
Thanks,
Juergen

I don't quite understand what you are asking... on the LT1, the motor and the cam/optispark will accept a double roller timing set for a OE roller block which have the tighter cam bolt pattern.

I run an engine works true billet double roller which utilizes rollmaster sprockets and a swiss or German made chain which is the same as what I saw in the cloyes sets if memory serves me correctly. I have had these on some seriously high revving solid roller setups with never a hint of issue. you will need to check the clearance on the inside of the factory LT1 cast timing chain cover and possibly some very minor clearancing, but nothing major. i don't know if this was the information you were looking for as your post was difficult to interperet. if not elaborate more on what you would like to know!

Dude.
As Chris says your asking a confusing question. It hard to understand what you are saying. Look you want to up grade to a Cloye Double Roller chain. All you need is a 1995 timing cover and optispark and a electric water pump and electrical wring harness to plug in to the oti.

When you drop the compression ratio on your new rebuild motor. By all mean have it retune for maximum power.
Here is a pic of my turbocharged 93LT1 with double roller chain conversion done.

you dont have to do any thing to the program it will run just fine. The new opti operates basically the same as the old one the only real diffrence is the drive and wiring harness

Hey there,

I've gone through exactly what you are trying to do here's the parts list you need.

1.) New timing chain and both sprokets.

2.) New Optispark

3.) New vaccume tube setup for the vented opti

3.) New Timing chain Cover (welded shut water pump drive)

4.) New electric water pump. (double rollers don't have the sprokets to run the water pump drive.)

5.) New cam pin to run with the newer opti

6.) New Opti wiring harnes as the pins are different.

You don't need to reprogram the computer, but since you've got the cam out you might want to upgrade it, and then you would need a computer tune. At that point you could also get away from the FMU.

But all in all I don't think you really need a double roller timing chain until you get into some heafty hp. For the cost of all the stuff and the effort in doing it I'd wait until you need an opti change or you had the motor apart anyways.

I just installed a brass freez plug in my cover ,I welded one up but it distorted a little.
If you run the Meziere water pump ,make sure it is the Meziere-HD.
Not the regular Meziere for the ltx motor.

I did what you are looking for. I installed the lt4 hotcam kit in my 93 lt1, a cloyes double roller timing chain, 95+ style vented opti, 95+ styletiming cover with the waterpump drive opening welded (make sure you don'tdistort the opti seal while heating the timing cover),a new waterpump with the meziere HD. Be prepared to spend about $1800+ for everything
