Anybody used this stuff?
Channel surfing the other day and came across a street rod show. Big Daddy Don Garlits was one of the emcees. He was going around to the different booths and showing off new products.
He was at the Cool Chem booth and showed this amazing glue called Cyanopoxy. He was telling stories such as that of the Harley rider who broke a drive belt and glued the ends together with this stuff. The belt was still in use 1 year later! They said it would replace welding! Don said he was going to buy some.
Check out their site at www.coolchem.com
P.S. No, I am not a dealer and have no financial interest in this. It looks to be better than JB Weld though.
Glue a rubber belt together that is flexed, in high tension, hot, and was still together after a year? Now I own this bridge in Brooklyn, New York see................
That sounds interesting I 'll check it out . I use many different structural adhessives from 3-m for various applications , always looking at that kind of stuff.

That is indeed a pretty outrageous claim. Nonetheless, I'm curious to learn of real world results by others.
I really have to cry foul on the drive belt. Those things are kevlar reinforced. Let's say a stock Harley can make 65 lbft. at the rear wheel. Think about how much stress is on the glue joint.
I have used it and some other products like it. You can do some great things with it, glue steel to steel to make a tool, on plastic it is the best the part can still flex and the glue does not break. The rubber O-ring test is for real you can pull as hard as you want it will not break.
I bought it a year or two ago at some car show that was advertising the same way. They even showed it in front of us how they reglued a cut drivebelt and I could not pull it apart by hand after about 2 minutes..
Bought it, used it, and I think they dilute the sale packaged ones as it never held ANYTHING even as well as normal superglue once I was trying to use it at home.. Typical Sales BS.

Yesterday my wife was looking at this ad on TV about a face cream for $100 that made it look like you had a face lift. That had these women that had used it on only one side and the difference was amazing. She was all excited until I pointed out that it had to be a trick, probably something simple like duct tape hidden by a wig, or maybe behind a fake ear. She had never even considered that it was all a big lie since she is so honest. It makes me sick that money grubbing crooks can get away with this stuff. Same thing is the automotive world, only these guys don't care if your Harley belt comes off and kills you. Buyer Beware!!!
Next he will be trying to tell us the Earth is not flat.
On a serious note: Why do I have to register, complete with E-mail and telephone number just to find out how much this stuff costs. I think I will wait until it shows up in Wally-World.
Yea right. I also saw yesterday on Two Guys Garage (there are three guys) under new products, the "toronado". It circulates air in the air inlet which gets you better HP and gas mileage. Enough said.

Yeah, and there was a radio car show guy in San Diego, highly, highly praising the Tornado a few years ago!
I won't be too skeptical about this latest wonder glue. Let's just say I'm like others: I've seen enough "celebrity" endorsements (like one of the Unsers for that magic stuff for the engine, Prolong or whatever the name?) where the product does very little.
If you're going to trust a belt on a bike to this stuff, I agree: buyer beware.
