I haven't taken it out, but I have read alot of the threads on it, and remeber there being 2 screws that you can't see that you have to feel for, did you get those? Might be why it won't come out.
Be patient, there are many on this board that have done this, they will eventually chime in.
I managed to get the da$n thing out, then I hit another problem......I was replacing the knock sensor since I had the coolant drained. Then well all that could go wrong went wrong the da*n sensor broke off and now I have the threaded end stuck in the block, luckily its sticking out about 1/2 an inch but will not budge (of course). For the past hour and 13 mins I have been trying to remove it with v grips but no luck *sighs* this car is going to kill me. Well once again any ideas guys? To remove a *broken bolt*
If there is a hole in the center you should be able to use an "easy out" on the knock sensor. Otherwise you might have to drill it & then use an easy out. Get some rusty bolt removal solvent to spray on it too. I use this stuff called Yield that my brother got for me. He works in a corp. yard as a mechanic & this stuff is way better than anything I've ever used.
Someone must not have changed antifreeze often enough & that thing is rusted to the block. Also tap on it lightly w/ a hammer to break up the rust. key word... lightly!
I hate to say it but I really dont think I can get a drill in there. I may have to cut my fuel lines....if im lucky taking out the starter will be enough. ty for the help ill see what I can do.
I would do everything possible to NOT cut those fuel lines. You can upbolt them at the fuel filter just back under that shield just at the bottom of the passenger footwell. You will see it easy if you just follow the the lines back that little bit. Just mark them so you know which is which. Oh & that being a low spot may cause fuel to siphon out of your tank. May want to have some caps or plugs ready.
