air pump 85

Hi there i have an 85 and im thinking of removing the air pump system will this have any effect .
Im running a stage 2 chip and im adding a matched cam. Aussie vette

the only thing that might stop you is emissions laws... otherwise, remove it and it's plumbing. There are kits that will replace the pump with an idler pulley.

By removing the pump system will this cause the computer to post a fault code . thanks for you're reply. Aussie Vette

No problem passing a sniffer, provided the engine is warmed up.

Remove it! The front piping on mine along the front of the block was all rusted out. Put an air pump eliminator kit on and have been plenty happy. Much easier to work on now as well. Look at Agent86's setup. He had the template on line for a while. I'd love to build what he did.
