Default 85 Clutch Replacement

So upon taking the transmission out of the '85 4+3, it is observed that the clutch was on its way out too. I have only put 8k on the car since I've owned it, so it might have been beat up before I got it.

I'm wondering what kind of clutches you guys and gals are putting in the early C4's? I'm looking for something better than stock but not something for racing. I don't plan on autocrossing or anything like that, its just my summertime cruiser.

Thanks!

I am looking into this also; I am hoping McCleods dual street package is available with an alumninum flywheel, I have an email to them about it.

It appears that most people are extremely happy with this setup.

Centerforce Gold is supposedly better than stock yet maintains stock pedal feel. That's what I used anyway. Am interested to see the responses also!

Maybe a Centerforce I, looks like they claim a 30% increase. Hopefully the link will work. Not the best chart but I think the numbers you are looking for are:

Pressure plate=CF361911
Disc =384208

Centerforce for 85 Corvette

I have heard some bad things about Centerforce. Nothing specific, but just people not happy with them. From what I have researched, they seem to be for more of a drag strip/racing application.

Does anyone have any experience with the stock replacements out of Ecklers or Mid America? I believe they are $250 and are slightly better then stock?

Get a stock luk clutch from autozone. $190 and comes with a lifetime warranty.

I drag raced on mine a bunch (stock motor) and never had any probems with clutch slippage.
