If you have a stock converter in the car, the 36 will be OK w/drag radials.. My 36 lasted a year, but I had 3.73 gears, and a 9" 2800 Vigilante converter..
If down the road you plan on more GEAR, & converter, then go to the 44 now.. but if you plan on staying with the stock converter & gears a 36 will be ok..
Rich, If I punch it from a roll of 20MPH I will burn for about 80 feet, if I punch it standing still it will fish tail real bad, no mater how easy I get in it, it's just all over the road.

Maybe there is something else going on, If I punch mine it smokem like a high schooler on his last day, but it stays straight as an arrow.

Thanks for having that webpage up on your swap. It seems that my '87 has the EXACT same noise coming from the rear, thus probably the same damage as you did with your Dana 36. It has been making that noise for 1.5 years now and hasn't broke yet. I know it can't last forever!
