Default dana 36 panic question!

Im in the garage. Need feedback....
In my dana ( looking on the diff ) there is 4 tiny "halv-moon shaped" clips , 2 on the left side and 2 on the right. One of this clips has broken, i have taken it out from the dana. Can i use the dana or is this clip vital for the dana to work?? Regards..

I don't know much about rear ends, but I would generally suspect that the parts are there for a reason.. C clips usually hold things together....

These "clips" keep the outer "tabs" of the clutch packs from wearing the posi unit case. They should be replaced if they are cracked.
