I will be buying new tires soon for my LT4 CE. I was going to get the Good Year F1 Gs-D3 but the tire guy is trying to talk me into Toyo Proxes T1R. Does anyone have any experiance with these? Also are their any othe tries I should be thinking about. I will admit the GS-D3s are big bucks.
I did read the article however I don’t always trust car and driver I feel they may have ulterior motive. Also the car they tested on was a BMW with much smaller tires than my Vett I would think the difference would matter.
i have BFGoodrich 285R17s all the way around and love it
the ones i chose are the all season KDWS because they will last a while longer than the KD or KDW due to how i drive,
for the money i think the KDW are the best bet, good traction and good life -300 tread wear. the KD are 200 and the KDWS are 400.
i drive hard so i need hard tires, soft wont last me 5k miles . so far ive gotten 8K out of the KDWS with a few AutoX's, Gas/Brake street driving and some burnouts , they have about 2k left in em
but then a NEW pair of GSC's lasted on the back for 3k miles with ALOT of FUN
The most important factor is what you'll be doing with the car. If your into HPDE's, I'd get the GS-D3's or the KD's. Skip the KDWS's if your going to be taking it to the track alot.

So, what you're saying is both tire rack and car and driver have an ulterior motive? I don't think so. This isn't something faked, and for what reason? To sell amur-ican tires? Get a grip--pun intended. Buy the tires you feel are best and the best you can afford. Your life depends on it, more than practically any other thing on your car.
Soggy Taco: What price did you tire dealer offer you for the Toyo tires? I am about to buy a set of these for my 89 and the price I have been given was $200 each, installed. I put a set of Toyos on my "other car" instead of Michelins due to a strong suggestion of my tire guy. The Toyos are the best tires I have seen as I drive 30k miles per year. However, these are not on my Vette!

Your first idea was the correct one. The Goodyear F1s are the best for a C4 after trying them and comparing. They are the quietest, the smoothest and best braking and handling tire I've ever had, and are a good price relative to the selections. You can look forward to that unexpected rain storm. The steering is settled and precise, the rears are tough to break loose.
My opinion of course, but listen to others. Their story is the same. Just get the best and stop worrying about it. Makes your vette a whole new car.
I just installed the gs-d3's on my vette. 275's front 315's rear. Like the man said, It's what you want to do with the car that counts. If your looking for milage, you don't want these. I have spun out in wet conditions and saught a tire that is most likely to prevent that from happening again (to hell with the milage).
Just bought a set from Discount tire for about $600.00 mounted etc. They are rated AA and were a good deal, no problems and run fine all the way up to 126 mph real smooth.

I did not get to the price toyo doesn't make the t1r in my size 285 40 17. Sorry he did quote me $1000 for the GS-D3 installed.
I put Nitto 555s on mine. They seem to run well Bridgestone Potenza's were probly going to be my 2nd choice. I can say this... if you ever drive in the wet, dont get these. Mine doesnt see water, and I want to keep it that way. But for the most part, I am satisfied. (I got these 1.5 yrs ago.... there are better tires now I believe)
