i have a 85 vette i want to remove the smog pump and replace it with a pully. my questions is besides the pumpwhat do i need to pull off and plug off, and will this mess up my emissions? or is this a bad idea? thanks rosco
I'm not sure what state you are in, but in most states, you will never pass the visual portion of the SMOG test. Check into your local SMOG rules first. But then again, you can always revert back to your stock setup just before SMOG check time, tha'ts what I do out here in California with my long tubes ...
If you decide to go ahead and do it (if it's worth your time), let us know because it is a process but it can be done.
If visual is a problem , gut the vanes out of the inside and leave it in place.
If removing to be replaced by an air pump eliminator , you can remove all or part of the system including the AIR valves and plumbing.
You will need to cap the air inlets to the exh manifolds and the cat air feed.
Certainly makes front of engine access easier.
