Default Cat Back Removal on 94?

Is it possible to remove the exhaust on a 94 from the Cats back? I was trying to avoid messing with the cats but there isn't enough room on passenger side to get the exhaust far enough back to drop down off the cat without hitting the floor pan in front of the resonator. There is a collar on the exhaust on the passenger side that I haven't been able to get to move. Don't want to force it if shouldn't move but I think moving this will get me enough room to clear. This is a stock exhaust.
Thanks

Yes, the exhaust can be removed in one piece from the cats back. Just use a floor jack under the resonator to support it because it weighs at least 60 lbs.

You need to go twist & back & down & twist & back & down a few times, it's a tight fit to drop it off. I did mine alone when I put the Corsa system on. Two people would be nice if you can find another body.

One person can do it! The passenger side can be a bit stubborn but it will come out if you use enough grunt!

I've had mine out a million times. The hardest part for me was getting that top nut off on the drivers side.

LIke mentioned, use a floor jack since the entire catback weighs 68 lbs.

Thanks guys! Now that I know it can be done I'll pull harder tomorrow. It's totally unbolted and sitting on the jack... just couldn't get the passenger side free.

If you have the exhaust too low, that may be why it's binding, jack it up so it's level and straight and then try pulling it out.

Got It!! Thanks everyone. The trick appears to be to lower the drivers side so the heat shield will clear the underbody exhaust channel then PULL. It seemed to be the difference. Raised the passenger side slightly to unbind and out it came.
Thanks again.

Mojo,

I see you used ramps at the back there--is that all you needed to do the job? Jack stands in front and a couple of ramps in the back?

I have a power effects on mine that I have to pull off. Since it is multi-piece, plus just put back on by mechanic a few weeks ago, hoping it is easier than the stocker.

That's all I needed, but if you have access to a 2 or 4 post lift, by all means use it, it will make life much easier.

I actually removed my stock exhaust and installed the Corsa only using jack stands in the back. Didn't even raise the front at all, just got the back as high as I safely could.
