Default Broken turn signal

While attempting to push the turn signal switch up for a right turn, there was pop, and the stalk became very loose. Now I cannot signal for right turns. You can still push the switch down for the left signal, but when you pull up to turn it off, the stalk just flops up and down. The only way to cancel the signal is to turn the wheel. Any ideas?

Sorry, it's not the turn signal switch, it's your multi-function switch. I can't find my reciept right now, but I'll look for it and post the part number. One hell of a job. You'll need to pull the whell of course -- the switch is the last thing that comes out. You will definately need a service manual to do it right. The part runs about $130, but it's wise to replace the bearings and the signal switch as well while you have it apart.

There's a molded tab on the MFS which breaks off over time, and that's why the turn signal arm is "flopping around". Get a small flashlight and look inside the hole that the arm goes into and you'll probably see what I am refering to.

Call Chris May @ Superior Chevrolet, Merriam Kansas (800.728.8267, www.superchevyperformance.com). He gives really great servcie and pricing to Forum members. You'll need part number 26015119 ($120.38 as of Sept 05) . You can get the other parts you need (bearings, signal switch, canceling cam) from local sources or from Chris.

Yep, sad to say he's right. Mine happened 2 weeks ago and I bought the turn signal switch thinking it was bad, tore the whole thing apart to find it was the multifunction switch. so now I have my steering tore apart and can't get the part until tomm. E-mail me if you have any questions about the tools you'll nedd and etc. if you are going to do it yourself as i just did it yesterday and had to go to the parts store twice to get tools to take it all apart. wkbrd1@aol.com

Is the multi-function switch also called the wiper switch? Eckler's and Corvette Central lists the wiper switch for around $140.

I got a turn signal lever from Vette 2 Vette for around $40.00. I asked for one that was in very good condition and still had the factory graphics. They sent me one that was practically brand new.

multi-function switch
You don't need the whole switch. It's only the aluminum-part which is attached to the switch with a little bolt.

I'll make a photo and post it tomorrow when I get my camera back.

That piece does seperate from the rest of the unit? I just went to the dealer to get the part for myself and they told me I had to buy the whole assembly. $119 though, so Cheaper than I thought. A dealer quoted me $209 yesterday.
