Default Rear ends.

now that i got your attention, how hard is it to swap in a dana 44. i have the 36 with 2.59 gears and have came across a used 44. Can you get away with only the center portion or do you need the axels as well?
I already have the correct driveshaft.
thanks

you need the entire D44 assembly. The center will not bolt up to the D36 batwing.

I also think you need a different drive shaft, but I don't remember for sure.

so all you really need is the carrier, batwing and driveshaft?

To do it with the least amount of work, you will need the drive shaft from a stick shift and the C- Beam .3rd member and the bat wing.Axles,half-shafts are the same, the break cable for the emergency break may be different depending on the year and if you are replacing the whole thing, other wise just change the bat wing and 3 member drive shaft C-beam you are on the road.

And if you are thinking about poly bushings, exspecially the ones in the bat wing, now is the time to install, not when its back in the car.
