Default Question for the LT-4 guys?

Just a few question for you guys, Hope to hear some good answers.

1) What did your LT-4 run stock, and what did it run with a few mods?
2) What does it take to get a LT-4 into the deep 12's @116-118?
3) How does your LT-4(stock) do vs C5(stock)?

Thanks.

1) Usually mid - low 13's at 106-109mph...crappy hot Oklahoma track, old hard GSC tires. With mufflers, k&n filter, open filter lid, ngk spark plugs, msd wires...I went 13.00 @ 110mph.
2) Depending in the track conditions & driver, I'd think around 380-390rwhp.
3) Stock to stock...I ran side-by-side w/ several LS1s at the track and on the street.

thanks for the reply. 110 mph is cooking for close to stock.
now to get 380-390 rwhp, what would that take? would porting the heads, mild cam, tune, and exhaust get u there?

sounds like LS1 are neck, and neck. good to know.

Heads, cam, exhaust, and all the "good" bolt-ons. The final hp/tq numbers will depend on how well the heads are done, cam profile, tune quality, and alot of other little variables.

Do you know the exact differences or have a link to the differences between the LT-1 and the LT-4?

Thanks.

I believe low 12s is easily possible with some nittos and 350rwhp at a good track. I'm getting 12.5s with 290rwhp.

that's some good air or a short track.
Or you can drive like a pro....

As far as the first post is concerned, all I can add is that a buddy and I dyno'd our cars on the same morning/same facility. He had a stock LS1 and developed 316rwhp. My stock LT4 developed 311. Both MN6. That tells me that a stock LT4 and a stock LS1 C5 are pretty evenly matched. The drivers? Well, YRMV.

You could have put your H/C/MR on by now.

Well, rocco, it was actually done before the latest tune. It was done in very cold air two decembers in a row at Steele, AL with a 1.8 60 ft.

All I can say is I've seen an LT-4 vette run a best of 8.9 at my local 8th mile strip. I know for a fact he was not launching the car properly. My first ever pass after getting "tips" from him was a 8.8. On my second ever pass, I through his tips in the garbage and ran a 8.6 After that, 8.5s were easy. Then the mods started.

I'm guessing maybe it was a combination of all three reasonings you posted.

My LT-4 stock would run 13.0s at 108ish.

I had a CAI and Magnaflow mufflers and eventually got it in the 12.90s, but the MPS was still in the 108 range. The ET gain was mostly getting familiar with racing a 6-speed.

Best time on regular street tires was 12.92 (8.38 in the 1/8).

Honest LS-1 owners would agree. There were a number of times I went to the track with a friend who had an '03 6-speed. I was typically .05-.1 quicker until he got his tune.

I've read your threads, if you'd put those parts on you have you'd be faster than a ZR1, LT4 and Z06. Keep what you got and put the parts on. In the long run your wallet will be a lot heavier.

80's C4'sarent worth anything anyway. If they will be it wont be in our lifetime. You have a nice car, why not give it the power you want?

It isn't going to be worth sht either way, fking enjoy it. You'll be dead b4 you know it.

I ripped a 1 of 30 Indy car apart so I could have fun with it.

Did you buy the POS to make money or have fun? Put the fking parts on.

I'm not kidding, put the gdamn parts on the car and see how you like it. You probably won't look anymore.

It does not have to be an LT4 or LT5 or LS, to get there, just build the **** out of it, drive it, and if it isn't fast enough mod it more. The other option is buy one that is built.
If you spend whatever say 18k (approx. or more) to get a good LT4/LT5, you would still have to spend to get that rwhp, w/same money in yours you can get stupid fast, price out an entire drivetrain 396/406, trans, rear end. I am sure if the $$$ are right, some of these guys right here on the forum (j.burnett, corkvette etc.) that are going real fast would sell you a motor, that would be able to produce well past 380 at the tire.
