Going to replace the rear bushings on my 94 (diff carrier, strut rods, and control arms). The kit I bought from VBP comes with a couple small tubes of lube. Where should this be used? On the inner sleeves (metal)? Between the two halves? On the outside? On the bolt through the inner sleeve? Never done this before. Thanks
I didnt use the small tubes of grease.I went to the auto store and bought a large tube of marine grease. The tube is made for a grease gun but just pop the cap off and goop it out and save some for later. Its waterproof and very very durable.
Wear gloves when handling this grease, its very hard to wash off.
using a big tube, I could smear everything inside and out of the bushings and sleeves to coat everything well. You want to coat the bushings on both sides in and out and a bit on the sleeves. The bolts itself doesnt need any grease though.
I think the tubes in the kits dont give you enough grease. After assembly, wipe off any excess grease and your good to go.
You can still use the kit tubes but was just offering you an alternative. The marine grease is usally dark-green color while the kits are white or clear.
I bought a larger tub of the same grease that comes with the bushings from energy suspension. I put the grease on just about everything, as if I had a choice. It sticks to every damn thing.
