Default PF 52 AC Oil Filters ????

Bad enought they did away with the PF 25's. I went to buy a couple of PF 52's and found out Advance Auto has no AC Delco "Duraguard" Oil filters, just PF 52's that have a new label (painted on) same box,no Duraguard written on it, about an 1/8 inch shorter, thinner gasket. Oh yeah, the box says fabricacion especial para General Motors de Mexico/Hecho en Mexico. All my other PF 52 Duraguard's say Detroit, Michigan. Has all production been shifted to Mexico ???? Anybody know anything about this ?? Did I get Bogus GM Oil Filters ?? Thanks for your help.>George

I bought 2 cases of ACDelco UPF-52 Ultraguard Gold oil filters from GM. They were "made in the USA" However, the box was dated 1995 GM Corp. I guess everything is going out of our country.

Default mexico oil filters

Hi Strick, Thanks for fast reply. Seems all boxes are dated 1995 AC Delco, even the ones I just bought tonight that came from Advance Auto. Looking on the web, while waiting for a reply, so far I can't seem to find anything about production being shifted to
Mexico. Other than all the troubles at Delphi, saw one article about Delphi buying other brands and putting AC Delco on the case. I also forgot mention in my original post that the filters have a inverted dimple on the bottom of the case.>George

Default GM oil filters

I found out they are made in Mexico by Champ Labs in Mexico for Delphi. Returned them and went down the street and bought the correct at PEP Boys, made in Detroit, Mi .
I can see soon there will probably be only Mexican ones on the shelves. Save the Wave.>George

If you are at Avdvance Auto anyway, get the Purolator Pure One filters. I believe they're still USA- made and they seem to get consistently good reveiws on sites like this one:

They cost a few dollars more, but they even seem to fit the oil filter connection better.

My .02...

I prefer the Mobil 1(extended life) or K&N, or ..... on occasion have used the Napa Gold in my '88 Vert.
