Roller rockers installed valves adjusted....
Used the 3/4 turn past slack removed method on cold dead motor. Started it up and thought I could hear a lifter ticking. No oil splashing so I thought I'd leave it running and back off and retighten each one till I found the loose one. As expected they would all start ticking when I backed them off about 3/4 turn.
Now the part that I don't understand. I could only retighten about a quarter turn. Much more than that and the engine would run rough. I'm assuming that the valve was being held open by too tight of a setting. Setting the valves with the engine running took a setting that was a full half turn looser. If I adjusted back to the original cold setting, the engine probably woudn't run. What's up with that?
