Default gears or cam?

I need helping deciding which would give more of an improvement gears or cam. Gears would be 4.09 vs a mild cam for stock heads.

I had a run in with a mildly modified C5 yesterday and we were about dead even. I would like the outcome to be a little different next time we meet.

Thanks

i'd start w/ gears, you'll need them in any event ........ there's more you will want to do when the motors apart than just the cam........

i second the opinion on gears first.. i've done both and i can easily say i thoroughly enjoyed the gears more.. i found a good deal on a whole dana44 pumkin with 4.09's setup already.. if you can find the similar, you'll only have the car apart for an afternoon or weekend at worst..

good luck,
