Default AFR heads

Running AFR heads on my LT1, have Comp Cams 1.6RR's and have removed the drip tabs from my valve covers. Anyone running this combination have any hints for getting the covers on. They are hitting the lash adjustment nuts on the RR's. I am about 1/2" away from having the covers go on.

Thanks

Fred

Not sure if the LT1 is the same as a L98 motor but I ground the metal at an angle that the holddown bolts go thru. I had trouble getting those tubes between my rockers. I didn't have to grind them all down just one one or two. If you go this route don't grind the original height away just put an angle on it.

I have Comp Cams Pro Magnum rockers on my AFR heads also. I had to mill the valve covers in the area of the hold down tubes also to get clearance for them to fit.

are you sure they are hitting the adjustment nuts and not the baffels? I had to cut my supports to clear the trunions on my billit covers.
Here is a site that does a good job of showing where they hot

Here is the mod I had to do to get mine to clear, see the left side of the VC?, I had to do this to both valve covers. The side cut is the trunion side of the rocker

Well I was in the garage for an hour trimming and fitting. They still won't go on. A couple of the nuts are hitting the valve cover. The valves were set by a pro. Any other suggestions ??????

Thanks

Fred, I had the same issue with mine...........same combo as you but an L98. I ended up having to machine about 3/8ths off the top of the poly locks to obtain the clearance and everything was fine after that. There are pics of my setup in my photos if it's working

Depending on which valvetrain you had selected, you may have to reduce the polylocks height, or run spacers. I wound up going with the spacers.
