Default Oil Leak

Hey fellas, I have a 95 6 speed lt1 vert. with about 74000 miles. A year after i got the car i started to notice an oil leak that is coming from the front of the engine, last year it was the size of a dime now its up to like a half dollar size. The car runs great and i never have to add oil in between oil changes, but it is just getting worse. Just wondering what seal it might be , how much to fix, and am i hurting anything by not fixing the problem. Because it is getting worse........Thanx fellas..Drive fast!!

I had a leak on the front of the engine and on the back. Both were fixed when I resealed the intake manifold.

Check your intake manifold. Mine was leaking there. It's easy to spot and isn't hard to fix.

Agree with the rest, it's your intake manifold leaking. The front and rear of the intake manifold is sealed to the block with RTV it overlaps about 1/2" going up the intake manifold gaskets where they meet. After a while it remains mostly a solid piece but is no longer adhereing to the metal. Oil begins to seep.

It's not a bad job to do, takes maybe 6 hrs at the most. Just because you take a lot of thing off or loose to have clear access. About $30 for the gaskets, $12 for the Right Stuff, rags, coolant and remember to change your oil/filter afterwards (or during). Some throttle body cleaner, brake parts cleaner spray cans and a gasket for the throttle body to manifold.

You may find you breathed a little new life into the engine after this, when I did mine I found the rear four ports had little spray patterns of carbon vs. the front four which where golden, ah hah - the intake gaskets were leaking too. The engine runs so much smoother now.

Intake manifold fore/aft rail oil leaks makes a mess and tough to isolate at first.

When the engine is cool support your right arm up on the manifold and with a flash light look right down right near the EGR valve, there where the manifold meets the block. Any indication oil moisture (dirt captured in it too) is pretty much the fault identification.
