219 cam in non-roller block

Default 219 cam in non-roller block

Hi all.... Quick question that I'm sure will be an easy answer for a lot of you.

I'm looking into a 219 cam for an 85 model, but I'm unsure of what timing chain to use with a stepped nose cam and the lack of a factory thrust plate on the non roller block. Would I get a timing chain from an LT-1 and use a thrust button? (I know nothing about the LT-1 so that may not even be possible)

I'm running a retrofit roller now (Comp 218/224 .498/.502 on 110 LSA). Mods are Super Ram, Dart 200cc's 2.02, FL Headers, dual exhaust, stock bottom end.

Should I consider bigger than the 219 because of the heads (looking for maximum effort)? I'm using Comp 987 springs.

Use the timing chain that is drilled for the late model bolt pattern on the cam. The retro lifters and a cam button are needed.

I don't think you are going to see much improvement going to a 219 from what you have.

Of course, if the gains would be minimal from what I have now, I am going to stay with what I've got.
