Hood release for 84

Anybody know how to get the hood open when the release lever won't release? The driver side will not release. The Passenger side does.

When this happened on mine I pulled the handle all the way down and then reached up behind the handle and grabbed the cable. There's a 50-50 chance of getting the right cable, but one of them will not move anymore, the other one will. The one that will is usually the one you're having trouble with. What probably happened is that the outer case rotted so there's too much slack for the handle to take out.

There is a tool made just for this. It is a bent up piece of 3/8"? steel that is inserted between the open door and the edge of teh hood. Look on E-Bay, or corvette catalogues.
