Default Throttle plate problem?

I have a 1985 coupe and have been having problems with it idling badly (especialy when the A/C is on) and hesitating upon acceleration. I had the same problem last summer and took it to the dealer. They replaced the fuel regulator and it cleared up the problem.

I put it into storage for the winter then took it out this year and had a little over 1000 miles on the new regulator when the same problem started again. I had passed the 1 year warranty so could not take it back in under warranty.

I talked to a friend of mine who's son is a Ford mechanic and he thinks I have dirty throttle plates. I went in to get stuff for cleaning the throttle plates but the parts people just looked at me with blank stares.

If anyone has had this problem could you please tell me what you think it might be. Fuel regulator or dirty throttle plates. If it's throttle plates how do you clean them? And if it's the fuel regulator again what might cause it to go bad in such a short time?

Thanks!!

Get an aerosol can of TB & carb cleaner, don't use just carb cleaner. The TB has a coating that can be removed by the worng cleaner.

I've found TB & carb cleaner cans in my local service station/quick-mart.
