hood latch problem. temporary fix?

hood latch problem. temporary fix?
i have been pretty busy trying to keep my car running and havent had time for the smaller things like resolving the hood latch problem.
after spending10+ hours replacing the water pump "with a broken arm" i put spacers in the hood latches to temporarily keep them from closing and latching the hood closed.
i was wondering if this was wise or will viberations do much more harm to my hood than if it were latched corrrectly?
