Default comp cam 306

I owned a 97Z28 and I wrecked it. At the time I bought a cc306 for it. Now I have a 92 corvette with the lt1 in it also.It has ported and polished heads and a few other mods. Will my cam go into this moter? I know pretty much what all needs to be done on heads and exhaust, and I know I will have to burn a custom chip but, anyway I would be greatful for any advise.

Yes, that cam can go into your vette without a problem, it's a pretty big cam for a 350, but I've seen bigger cams installed that ran perfectly fine. If you are concerned about emissions that cam might be a bit of a problem though, however forum meber TJWong I believe has tuned a CC305 cammed car to pass emissions, I just forget whether that was a 350 or 383 bottom end!

You will need to check the dowl pin to ensure it is the same as your stocker but other then that it wil drop right in with the mods you have. I personaly think the 306 is a little bit for a stock ci LT1 and if you have an auto it will be a little tricky to tune properly. As far as the motor goes it is the same as the F-body of the same year, other then the 4 bolt mains and if you had a 97 you may have even had a 4 bolt block in it. I have an F-body block in my car now as a mater of fact. What are your intentions for this car? if it a daily driver I would consider the 305 and see if you can get someone to swap with you or just sell the 306. I run the 306 in my 383 now and it is a great cam but I can't imagine it being the best street cam for a 350 other then great HP numbers up top. The 305 is closer to the GMPP Hotcam then the 306 so apples to apples you may want to post this question on the F-body site a lot more of them are running the 306 with stock displacment motors then in here.

I work at Home Depot,I live only 5 miles from it. I have a 6spd and I know the 306 will be a little overkill, but its all for that nasty sound. Its just a playtoy. Thank you for the great advice!

If you have a 6 sped it will definatly help and most of the poular tuners can get it tuned to idle ok and have little cam surge. If you don't mind the low end TQ being not the best it should pull like crazy up top.

I got the 306 in my 383 LT4, and it cranks all the way to 7k rpm without problem, pulls crazy on the big end. Would highly recomened if you have a 6spd, and make sure u beef up the vavle train to take the abuse.
