I've never done a Corvette, but on my 94 Silverado, there is a float on the fuel pump unit that runs across a seies of contacts, and that is what is connected to the fuel guage. You might pull yours and see if the float is still there and if the contacts are still actually "contacting." Like I said, I've never pulled the fuel pump on a Vette, but I have heard that it is pretty easy. I think there is a "how to" in the tech tips section (under "other" on the menu at the top).

A simple & rewarding project . Just look it up in the tech tips & follow the instructions. Be very gentile with the windings. Clean good under the ends where it joins the gage frame. Practice care with the tank gasket & scupper seal.
