Default Exhaust system (cat back) for LT4

Looking into a new exhaust for the GS convertible. Don't want it excessively loud, but a bit of bark is OK. Especially don't want a lot of resonance if we would want to take a trip. A bit of extra oomph would also be a plus if that is possible with the previous constraints. Waiting for your opinions.
Best, Dave

Corsa is probably your best bet. NO resonance and a nice agressive sound when you get on it.

Corsa: Agreed. Not too loud, though there's no mistaking 'em for stock! :D
I'm very happy with the sound. It SEEMS faster and my wife agrees, but that could be because it sounds more powerful. Don't really know.
I thought someone had claimed a ~10hp gain at the wheels on a dyno for his LT4.....

I did before and after dyno runs with LT4 and Corsa and came back with 17 more RWHP. Pretty darn good for late model exhaust upgrade.

I highly recommend the system.

Does anyone have experience with the Borlas mufflers? I am just talking the mufflers, and not the cat back system. I also want something mellow but louder than stock, and definitely no reasonance. I did have the Dynomax Super Turbos one time and they sounded mild.

Had them on my LT1 and the resonance was unbelievable, so if my experience was typical, nix that option. Passengers (and me too) wanted to bail out of the car at times. Plus the workmanship on the set that I got was atrocious. Don't know if it was representative, but that's my one data point.

I installed a Corsa system last winter and I love it. Everything was packaged perfectly and installed easily and besides, it cost less than Borla.

Corsa on my LT4 too. IMHO, it's the best choice esp considering the cost.

Dave, I installed the P.E. exhaust on my GS and love it. The best sound around for sure, they are adjustable and for trips I close them but any other time wide open :yesnod: fit and finish is A-1 and the black tips look alot better out the back of our GS then the shiney Corsas do IMHO. Call the direct they will answer any and all questions you may have.

Corsa. Great sound, yet real quiet at cruise.
Feels like it picked up a few HP on the top end too, but I don't have dyno #'s.

Is there a specific Corsa exhaust for the LT4? or is it the same as the LT1?

1996's are the same exhaust for LT1 and LT4. They're different due to the O2 sensor setup. The Corsa is a great system. I was impressed with the fit, finish and sound. A nice rumble and no interior resonance.

I'm a little tired and simple minded but, how can they be the same and different???? Are you saying the stock exhuasts are slightly different but Corsa only makes one model for the 1996? In other words, if I were to order a Corsa exhaust would I have to specify it's for a LT4 or a 1996?

Sorry for the confusion. 1996's, both LT1 and LT4, use the same Corsa system. This system is different than previous years due to the dual cat, dual O2 sensor configuration. You will use the same system for a 1996 LT1 as a 1996 LT4.
